Brief 7 - Event Collateral Research

To get a clear idea of everything I wanted to create for the convention, I looked into the branding of other conferences/events to see exactly what has been done, and what could potentially apply to this.

S/P/P Conference

The collateral for this conference is minimal and simplistic in both amount and design. It is all consistent in the use of stock, colour and design. The collateral consists of a poster, programme and small cards.

99% Conference 2010

The collateral for this conference is of a larger scale, with a variety of materials, from a large poster to name tags. The use of colour is consistent across all media, however it varies in how it is used, creating a strong and interesting identity.

Diálogos 2014

The collateral for this even is at a minimum, however I do find the book visually interesting. I also like the use of the colours and how these work with the imagery and stock.

Interface

The identity is playful and integrates well across different pieces of the collateral, as shown in the first image. The colours are used in a bold and varied way across all collateral. Once again, the amount of collateral is at a minimum.

IAU

This event has quite a variety of collateral, all in different scales. The use of colour and branding has been used differently across all of the elements as well, showing the full breadth of the branding.

24. Jewish Culture Festival

The branding in this collateral is structured and simple across all media. The use of colour varies in how it is used. The clean layouts and design works well across all content and is consistent in its approach.

XXIII Ars Cameralis Festival

The branding across this collateral is visually experimental and consistent across all elements. The colours vary depending on what piece of media it is, with all four integrated into the promotional fold out/poster.

Conclusion

From looking over these I have decided on the following collateral to create.
  • A5 promotional leaflet
  • A3/2 promotional poster
  • Event tickets
  • Convention programme/schedule
  • Booklet for the exhibition
  • Possible retail items - great sci-fi moment postcards/booklet etc.
  • Lanyard - staff & event-goers
As well as this, there are other items which I can create.
  • Outdoor promotional posters - large scale promotion
  • Interior way finding/promotion
  • Website mock up/App mock up
