As well as experimenting with sticker ideas, I decided to experiment with the layout and come up with something solid for this as I feel there is definitely a way around it which will do everything we want and still work well.
I wanted to create something which had a fixed text position, and had a lot of room for imagery, with the ability to change the size/shape of the images.
I decided on a landscape orientation as I felt that this would work much better than a portrait, which I had been having trouble with in trying to get the imagery at a good layout and size with the text. I went with a 30x20cm page size - something which is larger than I would expect to move forward with, but for the sake of being easy, it works well.
I then experimented with layout ideas until I came up with a grid which worked well for what I wanted. From this, I created a PDF of imagery showing the varying page layouts which were possible.
I then mocked up a few different page layouts which would be possible using this grid.
I am much happier with the layout now. I think that it works well in a landscape orientation, and gives the reader a lot of space as to where they can put their stickers. The imagery is at a good size, and there is a lot of room for the text as well. While there can be a lot of content on the pages, the layout makes sure that it doesn't look overcrowded with the large margins around the full page and between the imagery.
