Brief 12 - Developed Ideas

Following our last meeting I developed colour ideas for the design which Ant created. I also tried a couple of different typefaces before deciding on Nexa Bold. I think it works quite well.

Our second meeting was without Ant, but we had developed ideas to share.

I shared my colour choices on Ant's design, however it was said that the way in which the colours work isn't as fluid or well done as was liked. A plain colour gradient moving from one to the next is preferred than having clear sections like this.

Ewan had chosen some really good colours we decided to go with those.

I tried these colours with the design which I had done previously with a four colour gradient. The three of us liked the way the colours moved from one to another seamlessly, so I tried a couple of different variations of this.

While the effect is liked, we wanted to try some different ideas in how to incorporate the shape Ant created as we all agree it is what we want to go with. Another thing we agreed on was that the pink and the red are so similar that maybe the gold colour should be used instead, so there is a clear definition for each of the four cities.

The first idea I tried out was using stripes in the shape created by Ant.

It was agreed that these worked quite well, with the one on the right being the preferred option, with more white.

Another variation tried was with an initial idea of Sam's, incorporating four circles to mark the four cities along the shape.

With the black and white circles, we all agreed that it was very close to the London Underground map, which is why I tried having solid circles and white boarders.

We agreed that the bottom one, with the grey is definitely the preferred design. It simple, bold and directly links to the concept of four cities and the arrows.

Following this meeting we agreed to continue experimenting with design ideas so we would have a large variety of ideas for tomorrows workshop.

I did a few more visual ideas using these four colours, however I do still think the design above is the strongest.
