For a competition brief I looked over the following student awards: YCN, D&AD, RSA & ISTD.
From these I decided that I liked the sound of the following briefs:
I really like the idea of doing a launch campaign, especially for something which is so large in scale. I really enjoyed creating a campaign last year so to do another for a different subject is something that interests me.
YCN - Moo:
This is quite an open brief, but has a clear message that they want to communicate. It means that I can really think about the outcome and create anything I want instead of being stuck to one particular outcome that they are looking for.
YCN - Whistles Scent:
Another campaign, but for something which isn't something I've looked into before or done any kind of work around. I think that the luxurious approach that would be needed for this is something that I would like to do.
YCN - Syfy:
This is another campaign which is quite interesting because of the content that is being asked to be promoted. While it isn't the first brief I was drawn to, it is quite interesting.
D&AD - Air BnB:
This is quite an interesting brief because of the fact that it's open for me to do whatever I want to do, as long as it is essentially promotion and about getting a new audience.
D&AD - Monotype:
This brief is something quite different in terms of the way that I would need to go about it as it is typographically based, whereas the other briefs would be image based. I like this one because it combines two things which I really like - typography and film.
ISTD - Design Museum:
This is another typographically based brief. With it being a full identity and interiors, I quite like the idea of doing this.
I think that the brief that I will be able to work with the most is the D&AD Monotype brief. That's the one that I am most excited about. I am also considering doing the Design Museum brief, however as the deadline for that is quite soon, I don't know whether I will do it as the ISTD brief or just as another brief of mine own. I does mean that I can change the outcomes a bit if I want to.
